The only person in the way to your happiness is you. Yes,
you. The ultimate goal for each one of us is happiness. That is the only thing
we all agree to be looking for, but we do so in many different ways.
Fortunately different things make us happy.
What makes me happy is music. Music is my happy and my crazy. No matter how I feel you
give me music and few hours later, I am right back. Dancing and singing do for
me what I cannot do for myself, speak life in my desperate moments.
The point is we all have that one thing that brings a smile
on our face and we should all live in those moments forever. But it is not always
possible, we cannot just escape real life and live in the fantasy we create for
ourselves.
Adversities often seem to steal our joy and happiness away
and while we could sit back and ask ourselves why, I think it is better to take
life as it is and face the situation. Even though many just avoid confronting
problems until it goes away, I would not advice on this method because life is
like a class: until you have passed all the subjects, you will have to repeat
the class hence, avoiding issues is just postponing your exam. Go through the
pain, learn your lesson and grow. Adversities are part of life and contribute
to our development and maturity. They are a necessary pain for everyone to
grow. There cannot be any growth without pain. But in the mist of all the
adversities, there is an attitude one has to always keep in order to stay in
good health, both physically and emotionally. It is an attitude of gratefulness
and joy.
You have to be grateful in whatever situation you find
yourself because in everything there is good and bad, find the good and focus
on it. The more you focus on the good, the problem will solve itself. I know it
sounds easy and magical but the idea is simple, if you worry about it, you
sending negative vibes that will worsen the issue whereas focusing on the good will
give you peace of mind and let you live your life. No need to spend time
speculating about it with your friends and people you know.
If you have done all
there is for you to do and all you know you could do about the issue, focus on
the good because fear and anxiety is not going to solve the problem anyway. And
that is where joy comes in. please feel free to be happy always, don’t wait for
the circumstances to be favorable before you are happy. Happiness is one of
the few things you could do for your own self. It does not depend on what you
have or who you are. Happiness depends on your state of mind. We cannot
consciously choose the difficulties you want to go through but you can choose
to stay happy through it all. The problems will not stop coming so you might as
well be happy now. Don’t wait until you have enough money, lose weight or be
successful. All things are just temporary and if you are not happy in your
current situation, chances are you might have everything you ever dreamed of and
still be unhappy. Find joy in the little things that you have and always be
grateful and you will open the doors to greater things. Remember there is
always someone who wants what you have and would do anything to have it. In any
problem ask yourself these questions:
Have I done what I could and should to solve it?
Is there anything that could help the situation but that I
am avoiding?
Can I ignore it? Is it going to delay finding a solution?
Can I put aside my pride, shyness or any negative feeling
that is preventing me to take this action?
Once you have answered and dealt with any action you have to
take, let it go. Forget about it, let it be. Being anxious is not going to help
in any way so do what you ought to do and let go of the rest. To avoid negative
thoughts, go out, resist the temptation to discuss the issue with everyone you
know. Focus on doing constructive things, help people. Do anything you can to
shift your focus from your current situation and before you realize, it will
all be gone.
I am not saying it is easy, but I promise it is all going to
be good once you know how to enjoy the little things in life today. Nothing can
take happiness from you once it is not conditioned by any circumstances or
material.
